The University of North Texas (UNT) University Student Launch Initiative (USLI) team began in July 2016 due to hearing about USLI and knowing they wished to use this project as thier Senior Design project. The Senior Design semester started in the Fall of 2016 and continues till the end of the Spring 2017 semester. Throughout this time the UNT Team Rocket team will be working with the local National Association of Rocketry (NAR) chapter, Dallas Area Rocket Society (DARS), who is mentoring the students of UNT-TR and helping instruct them on the ends and outs of High Powered Rocketry.
UNT Mechanical and Energy Engineering Department
In the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at the University of North Texas, we are educating today's engineers to be tomorrow's leaders. We have faculty and students in MEE conducting research in areas related to energy and the environment, sustainable products and systems, biotechnology, nanotechnology, materials for energy storage, advanced manufacturing and renewable energy systems.
We are 10 years young and growing rapidly. The Mechanical and Energy Engineering program at UNT has seen record growth in recent years, and with an undergraduate enrollment of over 780 students and a graduate enrollment of 65 M.S. and 21 Ph.D. students...
We are one of the largest, and the oldest Texas chapter, of the NAR (National Association of Rocketry.) Operating since 1972, we have been promoting sport and hobby rocketry throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex nonstop for over 40 years. While launching/flying rockets is our primary activity, our presence also reaches out into the community in other ways.
Our outreach programs work with the Scouts, YMCA, 4H, as well as many local schools and educators, to encourage the next generation of Texans to pursue their interest in science, math, aerospace or engineering.
